Redspotted pygmygoby

Trimma rubromaculatum
French name : Gobie trimma à taches rouges

The redspotted pygmygoby is a tiny marine goby in the family Gobiidae, found on Indo-Pacific reefs. As its name suggests it is a very small, semi-transparent fish marked with red to orange spots, one of many diminutive Trimma species that live among rubble and coral. It is a peaceful, secretive fish that perches on rock and coral surfaces and darts into crevices when disturbed. It can be kept singly or in small groups in nano and reef aquaria alongside equally small, gentle species. Because of its minute size it is easily outcompeted or eaten, so tankmates must be carefully chosen and larger predators avoided. It is a micro-carnivore feeding on tiny zooplankton and benefits from a mature reef rich in copepods, plus supplemental feedings of very small frozen foods. It suits dedicated nano-reef keepers.
