Allard's clownfish

Amphiprion allardi
French name : Poisson-clown d'Allard

Allard's clownfish is an anemonefish (family Pomacentridae) from the western Indian Ocean along the East African coast. It has a dark brown to black body crossed by two white bars, with bright orange highlights on the face, fins, and tail, and grows fairly large for a clownfish. Like other anemonefish it lives in a close symbiosis with host sea anemones and is territorial around its home, defending the immediate area from intruders. It is best kept singly or as a bonded pair. A marine aquarium with a suitable host anemone encourages natural behavior, though the fish can thrive without one in a stable reef system. It is an omnivore that readily accepts prepared foods, frozen meaty items, and marine algae. Pairs may spawn in captivity, laying eggs on a hard surface near the anemone that the male guards. It is a hardy, reef-safe species suitable for most marine keepers.
