African flameback angelfish

Centropyge acanthops
French name : Ange nain acanthops

The African flameback angelfish is a dwarf angelfish (family Pomacanthidae) from the western Indian Ocean, off East Africa and surrounding islands. It is strikingly colored, with a bright orange-yellow back and face contrasting against a deep blue lower body and tail, and it stays small compared with large angelfish. It is relatively bold for its size and can be mildly territorial, especially toward other dwarf angels, but generally coexists well in a peaceful community. Individuals are usually kept singly. A well-established tank with abundant live rock provides grazing surfaces and hiding spots that help it settle. It grazes on algae and microfauna and should be offered a varied diet including marine algae, spirulina, and meaty frozen foods. In reef tanks it may nip at some corals and clams, so it should be watched. It is a good choice for aquarists with some marine experience.
