Arnaz's damsel
Arnaz's damsel is a small damselfish (family Pomacentridae) from the western Pacific, associated with coral-rich reef slopes. It is a recently described species with an attractive coloration, typically showing bright blue over the head and back transitioning to yellow or orange toward the belly and tail. Like other damsels, it is hardy and can be territorial, defending a favored patch of reef, though it is small enough to be manageable in a community reef with adequate space. A reef aquarium with plenty of live rock gives it shelter and helps buffer its territorial behavior. It is an omnivore that feeds on zooplankton and algae in the wild and readily accepts prepared and frozen foods in captivity. It is reef-safe and undemanding. Because it is a lesser-known species, published husbandry details are limited, but its care mirrors that of related Chrysiptera damsels.
