Moon Wrasse

Thalassoma lunare
French name : Girelle-paon lune

The Moon Wrasse is a fast, restlessly active reef fish recognised by its blue-green body, magenta-edged scales and a bright yellow crescent in the tail. It ranges widely across the Indo-Pacific, patrolling reef flats and lagoons. Bold and boisterous, it may harass timid tankmates and pick at ornamental shrimp, small snails and tubeworms, so it suits a fish-only or robust reef system with fast-moving companions rather than a delicate one. Provide at least 400 litres, a tight-fitting lid as it is a notorious jumper, and a deep sand bed where it buries itself to sleep and when stressed. Keep salinity at 33-35 ppt, pH 8.1-8.4 and a stable 24-28 C. Feed a varied carnivorous diet of mysis, chopped seafood, enriched brine shrimp and quality marine pellets several times daily.
