Yasha goby

The Yasha goby is a small marine shrimp goby in the family Gobiidae, found on sandy reef slopes of the western Pacific. It has a white body crossed by bold red-orange bars, and males develop a long, elegant filamentous first dorsal ray. Like other shrimp gobies, it lives in a mutualistic partnership with an alpheid pistol shrimp, which digs and maintains a shared burrow while the sharp-eyed goby stands guard. It is well suited to a peaceful reef aquarium with a deep sand bed and, ideally, a partner pistol shrimp to display its natural behavior. It is reef-safe and shy, so calm tankmates are best, and a tight lid is advised as it may jump. It accepts small meaty foods such as mysis and enriched brine shrimp. Its manageable size and hardiness make it suitable for intermediate keepers.
