White ribbon eel

Pseudechidna brummeri
French name : Murène de Brummer

The white ribbon eel is a slender moray in the family Muraenidae, found on shallow reefs and sandy lagoons throughout the tropical Indo-Pacific. Its elongated, ribbon-like body is pale white to cream with a fringed dorsal fin running the length of the back. Unlike many morays, it has a narrow head and reduced eyes, and it spends much of its time burrowed in sand or hidden among rubble, emerging to hunt small fish and crustaceans at dusk. It is a specialist requiring a mature marine aquarium with a deep sand bed, secure rockwork, and a tight-fitting lid, as it is prone to escaping. Feeding can be challenging, often needing live or fresh meaty foods until it adapts. Because of its size and demanding care, it suits experienced marine keepers rather than beginners.
