Lori's anthias
Lori's anthias is a planktivorous reef fish in the family Serranidae (subfamily Anthiadinae), found in the western Pacific. It lives along deeper reef slopes and drop-offs, often in shoals. It has a pinkish to reddish body with distinctive horizontal red-orange dashes along the upper back and dorsal fin, and males develop brighter coloration. The trailing markings help distinguish it from related anthias. It is peaceful and social, best kept in a group with a single dominant male, and does well in a mature reef aquarium with strong flow, live rock, and open swimming space. As a planktivore it requires frequent small feedings of enriched mysis, brine, and prepared foods throughout the day to maintain condition. A tight-fitting lid is advised. Suited to intermediate marine keepers.
