Goldbelly damsel

Pomacentrus auriventris, the goldbelly damsel, is a small damselfish in the family Pomacentridae, native to reefs of the western Pacific. It has an electric blue body along the upper half and back, contrasting sharply with a bright yellow belly and tail, making it one of the more attractive small damsels. It is a hardy but feisty fish that can be territorial, especially in smaller tanks, though it is somewhat less aggressive than many blue damsels. It is best added last or kept where tankmates can hold their own. It suits a reef or fish-only aquarium with ample live rock providing territories and retreats. It is reef-safe and an omnivore, feeding on zooplankton, algae, and prepared marine foods such as mysis and flakes. Its hardiness and vivid coloration make it an accessible marine fish, provided its territorial streak is managed with careful stocking.
