Royal dottyback

Pictichromis paccagnellae
French name : Dottyback bicolore (royal)

The royal dottyback is a small, brilliantly colored marine fish in the family Pseudochromidae from the western Pacific. It has a sharply divided body, magenta-purple on the front half and bright yellow on the rear, one of the most vivid color patterns among reef fish. Despite its small size it is bold and territorial, defending a chosen crevice and often bullying fish larger than itself. It is best kept singly, added last to a community, and paired only with robust tankmates. A reef tank with abundant live rock offering caves and hiding spots suits its secretive, territorial nature. It is a carnivore feeding on small crustaceans and zooplankton, and readily accepts a varied diet of meaty frozen foods and prepared marine rations, making it hardy and easy to feed. It is reef-safe with corals and a colorful, long-lived choice for the right setup.
