Diadem dottyback
The diadem dottyback is a small, vividly colored reef fish of the family Pseudochromidae, native to the western Pacific. It has a bright yellow body with a distinctive magenta-purple stripe running along the top of the head and back. It is a bold, territorial fish despite its small size, defending a chosen crevice and harassing similarly sized or newly added fish. It is usually kept one per tank unless the aquarium is very large. A reef aquarium with plenty of live rock offering caves and hiding spots suits its secretive, territorial nature. It is carnivorous, feeding on small crustaceans and zooplankton in the wild and readily accepting meaty frozen and prepared foods. Hardy and colorful, it is a good marine fish provided tankmates are chosen with its feisty temperament in mind.
