Yellowstriped cardinalfish

Ostorhinchus cyanosoma
French name : Apogon à lignes jaunes

The yellowstriped cardinalfish is a small marine fish in the family Apogonidae, found on sheltered reefs and lagoons of the Indo-Pacific. Its semi-translucent body is crossed by several bright neon-yellow to gold horizontal stripes, giving it a jewel-like appearance. It is a nocturnal, peaceful schooling species that shelters among coral branches and rock crevices by day and emerges to feed on zooplankton at night. It does very well in a reef aquarium kept in a group, where it forms tight, hovering schools among the rockwork. It is fully reef-safe and coexists with corals and invertebrates. It accepts small meaty foods such as mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Like other cardinalfish, males mouthbrood the eggs. Its hardiness and easygoing nature make it a good choice for beginner to intermediate reef keepers.
