Redtooth triggerfish

Odonus niger
French name : Baliste bleu à dents rouges

The redtooth triggerfish is a marine fish in the family Balistidae, widespread across the Indo-Pacific. It has a bluish to blue-green body with an elegant crescent-shaped tail with elongated lobes, and characteristic red teeth that give it its name. Unlike many triggerfish it is a relatively peaceful, plankton-feeding species that often gathers in large aggregations over reef slopes in the wild. In the aquarium it is comparatively calm but can become bolder with age and toward smaller fish. A large aquarium with strong water flow, ample swimming space, and rocky caves to retreat into at night suits it well. It is a carnivore and planktivore feeding on zooplankton in the water column, and readily accepts a varied diet of meaty frozen foods, pellets, and chopped seafood. It is one of the more community-tolerant triggerfish.
