Mozambique fang blenny
The Mozambique fang blenny is a marine blenny (family Blenniidae) from the western Indian Ocean, particularly the East African coast. It has a slender body shading from bluish to yellowish, with darker stripes running along its length, and swims freely in open water like others of the genus Meiacanthus. It possesses venomous fangs used defensively, which deter predators and let this small fish behave boldly. It is peaceful toward tankmates and can even be kept as a pair, though multiple males may squabble. A reef aquarium with live rock and hiding crevices suits it perfectly, and it is fully reef-safe. It feeds on zooplankton and small invertebrates, readily taking mysis, brine shrimp, and prepared marine foods. Its hardiness and easygoing nature make it a good choice for community reef systems.
