Starck's tilefish

Hoplolatilus starcki
French name : Tile de Starck

Starck's tilefish is a slender marine fish in the family Malacanthidae, found in the deeper reef slopes of the western Pacific. It has an elongated body colored bright yellow above and blue below, a graceful appearance, and a habit of hovering above the substrate near its burrow. It is generally peaceful and can be kept singly or as a pair, retreating quickly into rubble burrows when threatened. An aquarium with a deep substrate, rubble and live rock for burrow construction, open water, and a very tightly fitting lid is essential, as tilefish are strong jumpers and skittish. It is a carnivore feeding on zooplankton and small invertebrates in the water column, and requires frequent feedings of mysis, chopped seafood, and enriched frozen foods. It is reef-safe but best suited to calm, established systems.
