Timor wrasse

Halichoeres timorensis
French name : Labre de Timor

The Timor wrasse is a small marine wrasse of the family Labridae, found in the western Pacific and eastern Indian Ocean. Like many Halichoeres wrasses it changes color markedly with age and sex, generally showing green to yellowish bodies with fine reddish or pink lines and facial markings. It is a carnivore that hunts small crustaceans, worms, and other benthic invertebrates over sand and rubble. It buries itself in the substrate at night and when startled, so a sand bed is essential. In the aquarium it is active and generally peaceful, useful for controlling pest invertebrates such as small bristleworms and pyramid snails. It needs a secure lid to prevent jumping and a fine sand bed. It accepts a range of meaty frozen foods once settled. Exact details of this less-common species are somewhat uncertain in the hobby.
