Dusky wrasse

Halichoeres marginatus
French name : Labre marginatus

The dusky wrasse is a marine wrasse of the family Labridae, found across the Indo-Pacific from East Africa to the central Pacific. Coloration shifts markedly with age and sex: juveniles and females are darker with fine light spotting and a distinctive eyespot, while terminal males develop greenish tones and intricate facial lines. It is an active, generally peaceful fish that spends the day foraging over rubble and reef flats for small invertebrates. It buries itself in sand at night and when startled. It mixes well with most community reef fish but hunts small crustaceans and worms. A reef or fish-only tank with a deep sand bed and secure lid suits it, as it is a capable jumper. It readily accepts frozen and prepared meaty foods. It is not typically bred in captivity.
