Canary wrasse

The canary wrasse is a small reef fish in the family Labridae, found in the western Pacific. It is a brilliant, uniform lemon-yellow, often with one or more small dark false eyespots on the dorsal fin, making it one of the most vividly colored reef wrasses. It is an active, generally peaceful fish that swims tirelessly over the reef during the day and buries itself in the sand to sleep. It is reef-safe and coexists well with most tank mates. It suits reef aquariums with a deep sandbed for burrowing and a secure lid, since it may jump. It is a useful predator of small pest invertebrates such as pyramidellid snails and bristleworms, and it readily accepts meaty and prepared foods. Its hardiness and color make it a good introduction to the wrasses.
