Green wrasse
The green wrasse is a marine fish of the family Labridae found on reefs and rubble slopes of the western Pacific. It has an elongated, mottled green body, and like many wrasses it changes markedly in pattern and color as it matures and between the sexes. It is a fairly hardy, active swimmer that is peaceful toward most tankmates but will hunt small invertebrates. Individuals dive into the sand to sleep and when startled, so a fine sand bed is essential. A large aquarium with plenty of open swimming room, live rock and a deep sand layer suits it. It is a carnivore that helps control pest snails, small crabs and bristleworms, and accepts frozen mysis, chopped seafood and prepared foods readily. It is generally reef-tolerant with corals but not safe with ornamental shrimp and other small mobile invertebrates.
