Lamarck's angelfish

Lamarck's angelfish is a marine angelfish of the family Pomacanthidae in the swimming genus Genicanthus, found on deeper reef slopes of the western Pacific. Unlike most angelfish it is a planktivore and shows marked sexual differences: both sexes are silvery-gray with black lateral stripes, but males have additional markings and both carry long, elegant lyre-shaped tails. It is one of the most peaceful and reef-safe of all angelfish, and can be kept as a male-female pair or a harem, swimming actively in open water. A reef aquarium with strong water movement, open swimming space and live rock suits it well. As a planktivore it does not pick at corals, and it requires frequent feedings of mysis, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood and prepared foods to thrive. Its gentle nature, reef safety and mid-water swimming make it an excellent and unusual angelfish for the reef aquarium.
