Midas blenny

Ecsenius midas
French name : Blennie Midas

The Midas blenny is a marine combtooth blenny (family Blenniidae) widespread across the Indian Ocean and western Pacific. Its elongated body ranges from golden yellow to orange, often shifting toward blue-grey depending on mood and surroundings, with striking blue-rimmed eyes and a forked, lunate tail. Unusually for a blenny, it swims freely in open water in a manner resembling anthias, darting back to a rocky crevice when startled. It is generally peaceful but can be territorial toward other blennies or similar-shaped fish, so one specimen per tank is safest. It thrives in a reef aquarium with ample live rock offering retreat holes. Though it grazes some algae, it is largely a zooplankton feeder and should receive frequent small feedings of mysis, brine shrimp, and prepared foods. It is reef-safe and undemanding once settled.
