Bicolor blenny

Ecsenius bicolor
French name : Blennie bicolore

The bicolor blenny is a small combtooth blenny (family Blenniidae) from the Indo-Pacific, found on coral and rubble reefs. It has a blunt-headed, scaleless body, typically dark blue at the front grading to bright orange at the rear, though it can shift its coloration with mood. It is a characterful, generally peaceful fish that perches on rocks and darts between hiding holes, though males can be territorial toward other blennies. It is best kept singly unless the tank is large. A reef aquarium with plenty of live rock and small crevices gives it perches and refuge. It grazes on filamentous algae and detritus and benefits from a diet rich in marine algae and spirulina, supplemented with some meaty prepared foods; if underfed it may nip at coral polyps or clam mantles. It is hardy and reef-safe with care, making it a popular and rewarding fish for beginner-to-intermediate marine keepers.
