Blacktail dascyllus

Dascyllus melanurus
French name : Dascyllus à queue noire

The blacktail dascyllus (Dascyllus melanurus) is a small marine damselfish of the family Pomacentridae, native to reefs of the western Pacific. It has a striking pattern of three black vertical bars on a white body plus a fourth bar across the tail, making it easy to identify. It is a hardy, boldly colored beginner marine fish. It is territorial and becomes increasingly aggressive with age, especially in small tanks. Small groups can be kept in larger aquaria where they establish a pecking order among branching coral or rockwork. A reef aquarium with branching coral or rock thickets for shelter suits its behavior, as the fish retreat into these structures when threatened. It is an unfussy omnivore accepting flakes, pellets, and frozen foods. Reef-safe with corals and invertebrates. It is among the more readily bred marine fish, with males guarding eggs laid on hard substrate.
