Exquisite fairy wrasse

The exquisite fairy wrasse is a small, colorful reef wrasse of the family Labridae, distributed across the Indo-Pacific. Terminal males are especially vivid, with red, green, and pink hues and fine lines across the face, and they intensify their color while displaying to females and rivals. It is a peaceful, active fish that swims in open water above the reef and coexists well with most community species. Males can be territorial toward other fairy wrasses, so groups are best formed as one male with several females in a spacious tank. A reef aquarium with live rock, open swimming room, and a tight-fitting lid is important, as fairy wrasses are notorious jumpers. It feeds on zooplankton and accepts frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and prepared foods. Captive breeding is uncommon.
