Yellowtail damselfish

The yellowtail damselfish is a small, vividly colored marine fish in the family Pomacentridae, found on reefs of the western Pacific. Its body is a deep electric blue set off by a bright yellow tail, making it one of the most popular damselfish in the hobby. Unlike many damselfish, it is relatively peaceful and does not become as aggressive with age, though it will still defend a chosen territory. It is a hardy, reef-safe fish well suited to beginner marine aquariums with live rock providing shelter and territory. It can be kept singly or in a small group if the tank is large enough to space out territories. It accepts a wide range of foods including flake, pellets, mysis, and brine shrimp. Its bright coloration, hardiness, and comparatively mild temperament make it an excellent introductory marine species.
