Green chromis
The green chromis is a small damselfish in the family Pomacentridae, widespread across the Indo-Pacific where large aggregations hover above branching corals on shallow reefs. Its body is a shimmering pale green to blue, catching light as the shoal moves in unison. Unlike many damselfish it is relatively peaceful, and it is one of the few reef fish that genuinely does best in a group. Keeping an odd-numbered shoal of six or more spreads out any minor squabbling and encourages natural schooling behavior. This is a hardy, reef-safe choice for a marine aquarium with good water movement and live rock for shelter. It is a planktivore, and in captivity it thrives on frequent small feedings of finely chopped meaty foods, mysis and quality pellets. Chromis can spawn in aquaria, laying demersal eggs guarded by the male, though rearing fry is difficult.
