Diana's hogfish
Diana's hogfish is a wrasse of the family Labridae, widespread across the Indo-Pacific. Adults are reddish-brown to maroon with a pale belly and a row of white spots along the back, plus dark blotches at the fin bases; juveniles are darker with bright white spots. It is an active, semi-aggressive fish that grows fairly large and will prey on small crustaceans, snails, and other tiny invertebrates. It is generally peaceful toward fish but is not reef-safe with prized mobile invertebrates. A large aquarium with plenty of live rock for foraging and hiding suits it, along with a secure lid, as wrasses can jump. It is carnivorous, hunting small hard-shelled prey and readily accepting meaty frozen foods. Hardy and constantly active, it makes a durable display fish for a fish-focused system.
