Clown triggerfish

The clown triggerfish is a strikingly patterned marine fish in the family Balistidae, native to reefs of the Indo-Pacific and eastern Atlantic. It is instantly recognizable for its deep black body dotted with large white spots on the lower half, a yellow-rimmed mouth, and a bright reticulated saddle across the back. This species is bold, intelligent, and highly territorial, becoming increasingly aggressive as it matures. It is best kept singly and only with equally robust tankmates, as it will harass or kill smaller, docile fish and pick at invertebrates. A large aquarium with plenty of rockwork caves for retreat suits it well, along with a secure lid since triggerfish are strong. Its diet is carnivorous, favoring hard-shelled prey such as crustaceans, mollusks, and sea urchins, which keep its powerful teeth worn down. It is a demanding fish reserved for experienced marine keepers.
