Tomato clownfish

The tomato clownfish is a marine damselfish of the family Pomacentridae, native to the western Pacific around the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan. Adults are a rich orange-red, and while juveniles carry two or three white bars, adults typically retain only a single white head bar bordered in black. It forms a symbiotic relationship with sea anemones, most notably the bubble-tip anemone. It is an omnivore, feeding on zooplankton, algae, and small invertebrates. It is hardy and easy to keep, making it a good beginner clownfish, but females grow large and become quite territorial, especially around a host anemone or breeding site. Best kept singly or as a bonded pair, it should not be mixed with other clownfish species. It accepts most prepared and frozen foods and can be bred in captivity, laying eggs on a hard surface near its anemone which the male guards.
