Diagonal shrimpgoby

Amblyeleotris diagonalis
French name : Gobie-crevette diagonalis

The diagonal shrimpgoby is a small marine goby of the family Gobiidae from the Indo-Pacific. It has a pale body marked with orange-brown diagonal bands and blue speckling on the head, with a rounded, alert-looking face. It is a peaceful, shy fish famous for its symbiotic partnership with alpheid pistol shrimp: the shrimp digs and maintains a shared burrow while the sharp-eyed goby stands guard, warning of danger. It is best kept in a calm tank where it will not be outcompeted. A reef aquarium with a deep sand bed, rubble for burrow construction, and ideally a partner pistol shrimp lets it display its natural behavior. It is a carnivore, feeding on small crustaceans and zooplankton, and takes meaty frozen foods. Peaceful and fascinating to watch, it suits a quiet reef community.
