Lined surgeonfish

Acanthurus lineatus
French name : Chirurgien rayé

The lined surgeonfish is a bold surgeonfish in the family Acanthuridae, found across Indo-Pacific reefs, typically in shallow, high-energy surge zones. It is one of the most colorful tangs, with a body patterned in vivid blue and yellow horizontal stripes over the upper flanks and a bluish lower body; the caudal spines are large and, unusually, venomous, so it must be handled with care. It is aggressive and highly territorial, requiring a large aquarium with strong water movement, abundant live rock, and careful tankmate selection. Primarily a grazer, it should be given marine algae and dried seaweed along with prepared foods. Because of its temperament and space needs, it is best reserved for large systems and experienced keepers.
