Clown killifish

Epiplatys annulatus
French name : Killi clown

The clown killifish, or rocket killifish, is a tiny fish in the family Nothobranchiidae, native to coastal freshwaters of West Africa. It has a striking pattern of dark and cream vertical bands along the body and a colorful red-and-blue tail resembling a rocket flame, brightest in males. It is a peaceful, surface-oriented fish that is best kept in a small group and prefers the upper layer of calm water, where it hangs beneath floating plants waiting for prey. It thrives in a well-planted aquarium with plenty of floating cover, soft acidic water, gentle or no current, and a tight lid, since it can jump. Its small upturned mouth needs tiny foods such as micro-worms, baby brine shrimp, and small frozen items. It is a plant-spawner that lays eggs among fine vegetation, and the fry can be raised on the tiniest live foods.
