Hengel's Rasbora
Hengel's Rasbora is a tiny, translucent shoaling cyprinid closely resembling its cousin the harlequin, but slimmer and marked with a slender black wedge underlined by a glowing neon-orange blaze that gives it its glowlight nickname. It comes from soft, acidic, tannin-stained blackwater peat swamps of Sumatra and Borneo, shaded by forest and rich in leaf litter. Keep it in a group of at least eight, ideally many more, where the shoal displays natural colour and confident behaviour; small numbers become nervous and washed out. It is an undemanding, peaceful nano fish for a well-planted tank with dark substrate, driftwood, dim lighting and gentle flow. Provide soft, warm water at pH 5.5-7.0 and 24-28 C. Feed small omnivorous foods: fine flakes, micropellets, and frozen or live daphnia, cyclops and baby brine shrimp.
