Lambchop rasbora

Trigonostigma espei
French name : Rasbora espei

The lambchop rasbora is a small cyprinid from the blackwater streams and peat swamps of Southeast Asia, closely related to the harlequin rasbora. It is native to central and southeastern Thailand. It has a warm copper to bronze body marked by a distinctive black wedge along the rear half, shaped like a lambchop or hook, that gives the fish its name. Coloration intensifies over dark substrate and among plants. This is a peaceful, gregarious shoaling fish that should be kept in groups of at least eight to ten. It thrives in soft, slightly acidic water with subdued lighting, live plants, and tannin-stained conditions. It suits community tanks with other small peaceful species, accepts small dried, frozen, and live foods, and can be bred in groups given fine-leaved plants for egg scattering.
