Red neon blue-eye

Pseudomugil luminatus
French name : Pseudomugil Red Neon

The red neon blue-eye is a tiny freshwater rainbowfish relative in the family Pseudomugilidae, native to New Guinea. Males display an intense fiery red-orange body with contrasting blue eyes and delicate fins, while females are paler and more subdued. It is a peaceful, active shoaling fish that should be kept in groups of eight or more. In a good-sized group, males constantly display and flare their fins against one another, showing their brightest colors. A densely planted nano aquarium with soft, slightly acidic to neutral water and gentle flow suits it well. Because of its small size it should only be housed with equally small, peaceful tankmates and not with fin-nippers. It is an omnivore that takes small foods such as micro-pellets, crushed flake, and baby brine shrimp. It is a continuous plant-spawner in mature tanks.
