Emerald dwarf rasbora

Danio erythromicron
French name : Rasbora tigré nain

The emerald dwarf rasbora is a small cyprinid of the family Danionidae, endemic to Inle Lake and associated waters in Myanmar. Despite the common name it is a danionin, showing a pinkish body crossed by numerous shimmering emerald-blue vertical bars, with males more intensely colored than females. It is a peaceful but somewhat shy shoaling fish that should be kept in groups of eight or more, where males display and spar harmlessly. It occupies the lower and middle levels and appreciates the security of dense planting. A well-planted tank with slightly hard, neutral to alkaline water reflecting its lake origin suits it. Its small mouth requires small foods such as microworms, crushed flakes, and baby brine shrimp. It is an egg-scatterer that can be bred among fine plants or moss in a quiet tank.
