Pearl danio

Danio albolineatus
French name : Danio arc-en-ciel

The pearl danio is an active, hardy cyprinid from clear, fast-flowing streams and hill tributaries of Southeast Asia. Its slender body shows an iridescent pearly sheen with a subtle orange-pink flush along the flanks. This is a shoaling species that must be kept in groups of at least eight; small numbers become skittish and may nip. Peaceful and undemanding, it suits community tanks with other robust, fast midwater fish, though its constant swimming can overwhelm very timid tankmates. Provide a long tank with open swimming space, a gentle current, and a secure lid, as these fish jump. It tolerates a wide temperature and hardness range, making it ideal for beginners. Feed a varied omnivorous diet of quality flakes, micropellets and regular small live or frozen foods to maintain color and condition.
