Dwarf pea puffer
The dwarf pea puffer is the world's smallest pufferfish, a freshwater species of the family Tetraodontidae endemic to the Pamba River and wetlands of Kerala, southwestern India. It has a rounded golden-green body dappled with dark spots and expressive, independently mobile eyes. Despite its tiny size it is intelligent and feisty, often nipping fins, so it is best kept in a species-only tank or with fast, non-trailing tankmates. It can be housed in small groups given ample cover, though males may squabble. A densely planted tank with plenty of visual barriers reduces aggression. It refuses most dry foods and requires a varied diet of live and frozen meaty foods such as snails, bloodworms, and brine shrimp; snails also help keep its beak worn down. It breeds in captivity among fine plants.
