Para Pleco (L075)

Peckoltia sabaji, the Para Pleco (L075), is a robust, attractively spotted loricariid from the Orinoco and Essequibo drainages of Venezuela and Guyana. Its light body is covered in a dense pattern of dark rounded spots that extend onto the fins. Larger than most Peckoltia, it can reach around 18 to 20 cm, so it needs a spacious tank of at least 200 litres with plenty of driftwood, flat stones and caves. It is generally peaceful but territorial around its chosen hideout, and does best as a single specimen unless the tank is large. Provide warm, moderately soft water: temperature 25 to 29 C, pH 6.0 to 7.5, moderate hardness, with brisk flow and good oxygenation. An omnivore, it accepts sinking pellets, vegetables, and meaty frozen foods. It appreciates driftwood to rasp and stable, clean water conditions.
