Axelrod's Cory

Corydoras axelrodi, sometimes called the pink or Axelrod's cory, is a small, delicate armored catfish from the Rio Meta system in Colombia. It has a pale body marked by a distinctive dark lateral band running along the flank. Naturally shoaling, it should be housed in groups of six or more over soft sand, which safeguards its sensitive barbels from abrasion and infection. This is a gentle, unobtrusive community fish well suited to tanks with small tetras and other peaceful species. Keep water soft and slightly acidic, pH 6.0-7.4 at 22-26C, with efficient filtration but calm flow and clean, low-nitrate conditions. It feeds as an omnivore on sinking granules, catfish wafers, and frozen or live foods such as bloodworms and daphnia. Provide planting and wood cover to reduce stress and encourage daytime activity.
