Adolfo's corydoras
Adolfo's corydoras is a small armored catfish (family Callichthyidae) from the upper Rio Negro basin in Brazil. Like others in the genus, its body is protected by two rows of bony plates rather than scales. It shows a pale body with a black band running over the head through the eye, a black patch on the shoulder, and a warm orange blush behind the head. It is a peaceful, sociable bottom-dweller that should be kept in groups of six or more, where it forages actively across the substrate. A soft, slightly acidic, warm aquarium with fine sand suits it best, as sand protects its delicate barbels. It accepts sinking pellets, frozen foods, and live worms. Gentle midwater tankmates such as small tetras make good companions. Breeding is achievable with cool water changes to trigger spawning, after which eggs are deposited on plants and glass.
