Imperial Tiger Pleco (L134)

Peckoltia compta, the Imperial Tiger Pleco (L134), is a beautifully marked dwarf pleco from the Rio Tapajos in Brazil. Its cream to yellowish body is crossed by bold, wavy dark tiger bands, making it one of the most sought-after Peckoltia. Reaching about 11 cm, it is a manageable size for well-filtered tanks from 100 litres. It is generally peaceful toward other species but can be territorial with its own kind and similar cave-dwellers, so provide several caves and hiding spots to spread aggression. It thrives in warm, soft, acidic water: temperature 26 to 30 C, pH 5.5 to 7.0, low hardness, with strong flow and high oxygen. An omnivore leaning carnivorous, it takes sinking pellets, frozen foods such as bloodworm and brine shrimp, plus some vegetables. Driftwood and clean, oxygen-rich water support its health and coloration.
