Yellow phantom tetra

Hyphessobrycon roseus
French name : Tétra fantôme jaune

The yellow phantom tetra is a delicate blackwater characin from the forest streams of the Guiana Shield, notable for its warm golden-yellow body and semi-transparent finnage. Dominant males intensify to a rich buttery hue and display to one another with spread fins, so a group encourages this natural sparring without real aggression. Keep at least eight together; a larger shoal calms the fish and heightens colour. It is entirely peaceful and suits a densely planted community with other soft-water dwarf species. Reproduce its native biotope with soft, acidic, tannin-rich water, gentle filtration, dark substrate and dim light filtered through floating plants. Being omnivorous, it thrives on a varied diet of fine flake, micro-pellets and small live or frozen foods like brine shrimp nauplii, daphnia and grindal worms. Stable, well-matured water is key to long-term health.
