Julii Cory
Corydoras julii, the true Julii cory, is a small armored catfish from coastal river systems of northeastern Brazil, distinguished by a network of fine, separate dark spots on a silvery body and a reticulated head pattern. Many fish sold under this name are actually the similar Corydoras trilineatus. It is a peaceful, sociable bottom-dweller that thrives in groups of six or more, foraging constantly across soft sand that protects its barbels. An excellent beginner and community species, it pairs well with tetras, dwarf cichlids, and other calm fish. Keep it in soft to moderately hard, slightly acidic to neutral water at pH 6.0-7.5 and 22-26C with clean, well-oxygenated conditions and gentle flow. As an omnivore it accepts sinking pellets, wafers, and frozen or live bloodworms, daphnia, and tubifex.
