Bronze Corydoras

Corydoras aeneus
French name : Corydoras bronze (corydoras doré)

The bronze corydoras is a small armored catfish in the family Callichthyidae, widespread across South America. It has a plump body plated in bony scutes, a metallic bronze to greenish sheen along the flanks, and the short barbels typical of the genus. It is a peaceful, gregarious bottom-dweller that should be kept in groups of six or more, where it forages actively and rests together. It coexists happily with most community fish and occasionally darts to the surface to gulp air. It is a hardy, undemanding fish ideal for beginners, needing a soft or smooth substrate to protect its barbels and a varied diet of sinking foods. It readily accepts a range of conditions. Breeding is straightforward: after cooler water changes, females deposit sticky eggs on glass and plants in the classic corydoras T-position.
