T-bar cichlid

Amatitlania sajica
French name : Cichlidé de Sajica

The T-bar cichlid is a small Central American cichlid native to the Pacific-slope rivers of southern Costa Rica, where it lives among rocks and submerged wood in warm, moderately flowing water. It takes its name from the bold vertical bar and lateral stripe that meet in a T-shape on the flank. Fairly peaceful for a Central American cichlid outside breeding, it becomes territorial and protective once paired, so tankmates should be robust and the aquarium at least 110 litres with caves and line-of-sight breaks. It tolerates a wide range of conditions, thriving at 23-27C, pH 6.5-7.5 and moderately hard water. An omnivore, it accepts quality flakes, pellets, and frozen or live foods. Hardy and readily bred, it suits intermediate keepers.
