Poll's synodontis

Synodontis polli is a slender, streamlined catfish endemic to Lake Tanganyika, often traded as the white or yellow-tailed polli. Reaching around 12 to 13 centimetres, it is closely related to and sometimes confused with S. petricola, but grows a little larger and can be more assertive. It is a shoaling species best kept in groups of five or more, which reduces squabbling and encourages natural, active behaviour among the rockwork. Recreate Tanganyikan conditions with hard, alkaline water at pH 7.5 to 9.0, high carbonate hardness and temperatures of 24 to 27 Celsius, plus abundant rock caves for shelter. It is an unfussy omnivore taking sinking pellets, frozen and live foods and some vegetable matter. It coexists well with Tanganyikan cichlids but may harass much smaller tankmates, so choose robust companions.
